[Seoul, South Korea, November 7, 2024] – VINSSEN Co., Ltd. (www.vinssen.com), a leading provider of eco-friendly marine mobility solutions, has announced the commencement of construction for its Renewable Energy Demonstration Platform alongside a hydrogen fuel cell demonstration. This initiative is supported by national research and development projects.

The launch event, attended by key representatives from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jeollanam-do Province, Mokpo City, as well as officials from KIRISO, KIMST, and various industry partners, took place at VINSSEN Co., Ltd.'s headquarters in Yeongam. CEO Lee Chil-hwan introduced the Renewable Energy Demonstration Platform project, showcasing the operation of domestically developed hydrogen fuel cells for vessels and monitored output. Attendees also toured the steel cutting facility designated for the construction of the 24-meter demonstration vessel.

The Renewable Energy Demonstration Platform is a 42-ton vessel designed to test auxiliary systems powered by renewable energy from wind and solar sources, including rotor sails, wing sails, kites, wind turbines, and solar panels. VINSSEN Co., Ltd. has already completed the development of technologies aimed at reducing fuel consumption and establishing environmentally friendly standards in the coastal shipping sector. Following this demonstration, VINSSEN plans to begin the construction of the vessel for marine demonstrations aimed at operational assessment by 2025.

CEO Lee emphasized the significance of this endeavor, stating, “As the global shift toward eco-friendly vessels accelerates, this demonstration marks the beginning of an important platform aimed at improving the polluted marine environment and achieving carbon neutrality. We are committed to promoting decarbonization in the coastal passenger sector through the development of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) modules that will be applied to this renewable energy demonstration platform.”
